I made this painting in a moment of great personal struggle. I was nearing the end of a significant chapter of my life and staring into a large void that lay before me, trying not to fall in. It took all that I had to weather that personal storm and more than once I very nearly lost my nerve. But some part of me knew - an entire new self awaited me on the other side of this despair. Looking back, there is no other way that such a powerfully optimistic painting could come out of such a dark moment. But I somehow knew. A new, greater, more connected version of myself was being born. I was becoming something else.

In the glade where colors sing,
A creature weaves on playful wing;
The Walla-Bee Eater, bright and bold,
With spirit of wallaby, and heart of gold.
With nimble grace, it leaps and soars,
Through verdant fields and vibrant shores;
Its feathers glow in hues so rare,
Each brushstroke whispers, "Joy is there."
The wallaby’s courage, soft and wise,
Guides the bee-eater through azure skies;
A dance of hues, in sync they sway,
Echoes of laughter in the light of day.
To see this being, wild and free,
Is to glimpse life’s pure harmony;
With every flutter, a message flies—
Embrace the colors; let your spirit rise!
So let your heart in wonder play,
As each new dawn unveils the way;
For in the blend of earth and sky,
The Walla-Bee Eater teaches us to fly.

‘The Woodland Wanderer’ captures the whimsical fusion of nature and humanity, embodying a narrative that feels both nostalgic and otherworldly. With a mushroom cap for a head and vibrant overalls, this piece is a nod to the innocence of childhood play while embracing the mysteries of the forest. I hope it inspires curiosity and offers a brief escape into a storybook-like reality where even the most ordinary aspects of nature become magical companions.

"In the stillness of sleep, the imagination moves freely."
I hold a deep affection for dreams, for they are the birthplace of many of my most profound ideas. But all too often, I awaken with a sense of frustration, unable to capture the fragmented pieces of the dream I’ve just had. The conversation between the subconscious and the conscious can feel disjointed, almost cryptic.
This image was created to embody those scattered fragments and unravelled threads, leaving you with a lingering sense of curiosity and wonder at the unfinished story.

I believe, much like the ocean, each of us has an undercurrent, a subtle force or feeling that moves us in a direction different from what we might expect.
This undercurrent represents an underlying influence or emotion that contrasts with the prevailing atmosphere around us and is not always openly or confidently expressed.
The phrase ‘go with your gut’ refers to this very undercurrent – the deep, instinctive feeling that guides us toward the right path or decision. We just need the confidence and strength to follow it.

In the stillness of twilight’s glow,
A moth unfurls, her wings aglow,
Untethered by time, shape, or form
She stirs within, a quiet storm.
A flutter of thought, a whispered sigh,
She stretches her limbs, lifts to the sky.
The chrysalis cracks, the past slips away,
And with it, the remnants of yesterday.
In the quiet of night, she is reborn
A creature of dusk, of light, of dawn.
No longer bound by silk or thread,
She soars, where dreams and freedom are led.

A creek with its babbling waters has always been a sense of calm for me
I stare into its dark waters, loosing myself, watching the water trickle by
Often, I wish I was a leaf travelling along its journey, not knowing where I am headed
But calm and exhilarated by the prospect just the same.

Nymphs are beings from classical folklore, namely Greek mythology, who are associated with nature and natural places. They are considered personifications of natural elements and usually have positive associations with man. I gravitate toward these types of deities as a reminder of our connection to our natural world, and the hidden mysteries that dwell just beneath that which our eyes can see.

A symbol of steady perseverance, beauty and renewal, the elk walks an unknown passage, as if moving between two worlds. In my own personal journey, as well as ours as a collective, this creature comes to bring some much-needed reassurance in tumultuous times. He shows us to move gracefully and patiently on our path with a courageous, yet open heart.

One recent morning after a full lunar eclipse a barn owl suddenly fell at my feet, stunned, and stayed there for several minutes before recovering and flying away. I began painting owls from that point as a way of exploring the full depth and meaning of the encounter. Her energy that morning was potent and transformative, a clear reminder to bring my attention back to places I had long since been neglecting. To the mystery of life, the divine feminine, to the darker side of the moon.

I painted this painting at a time when Jupiter was unusually close to the Earth, and was visible low and bright on the evening horizon for months. Since then, there has been an undeniable feeling of change in the air. I believe that we as a collective are moving into a new age, a time in which new ways to move forward will emerge, as the old ways that no longer serve us will begin to drop away.

This beauty was inspired by the brilliant Walter Crane's "Lillies". Walter was a renowned artist of his time, had a soft spot for capturing the beauty of nature, and lilies were his muse. He was all about infusing his paintings with a sense of tranquillity and appreciation for the simple joys in life - that is, when he was taking a break from all the heavy stuff to do with social justice and politics. So when he painted "Lillies", it was his way of inviting viewers to pause and immerse himself in the serenity of nature. Walter wanted to remind us to slow down and savour the beauty around us and I hope to convey that same feel in my painting.

As I child I fantasised about being an animal. I would go days without speaking, responding only in gestures and sounds. I realised in my recent years how valuable this form of play actually was. It allowed me the daily opportunity to observe life through completely different eyes.
This painting was both a return to my childhood self and one of the greatest realisations of my adult life. I realised with this painting that what I was doing as a child was much more than child’s play. I was profoundly aware of my connection to animals, to the earth and to all other life. This painting was the first of my ongoing series of hybrid paintings, representing the importance of the human connection to the natural world.

This painting shows a young man with falcon’s wings on the edge of his journey - a journey that all humans share. His optimistic, faraway gaze reminds us of our great potential as a species. His hand rests lightly on his chest, a reminder to act from a place of love and compassion. A blood moon rises behind him, reminding us of our collective shadow, meanwhile, mountainous clouds rise in the distance, representing an infinite potentiality for beauty and magic.
This human-falcon hybrid is but one representation of our greater collective consciousness. His inner journey of growth and self-realisation is all of ours. He represents our collective ability to rise in the face of adversity, to realise our connection to our natural world, and through this detach from fear.

Inspired by my love of nature and tropical palettes, this work was commenced in Autumn of 2020. The colours were inspired by long mountain street walks with my family. I often take photos of leaves to paint from later. I decided to finish the work
years later, despite being stuck as to how many leaves to include. I could finally see where it was going. Emily Wurramurra's song 'Carry me home' was playing while I
finished the work and the reference to a 'calling to home' stuck in my thoughts. This helped bring calm and presence, despite the work being very energetic.

Arriving at age 40 felt like a momentous event. I wanted to capture this time in my life
as a way of celebrating the highs and lows of life leading up to this point. The background had been painted during an Artist Residency at North Stradbroke Island,
which in many ways is my home away from home. The canvas then sat in my studio for 2 years, before I finally decided to paint my face into the marks.

HOME gave a whole new dimension to many people during the recent pandemic, which is still impacting the world and lives today.
My aim was to express Earth is Natures and Wildlife’s HOME, where all should be comfortable and secure. In this art piece, Home Our Nature represents nature assembling to create a home for native Australian animal possum sisters. I was so inspired by how insects had eaten away this leaf creating the amazing pattern, and decided to apply some of the texture into my gumnut drawing, a tiny seed pod and some eucalyptus flowers as decoration.

There’s always a first step for everything...
Featuring Koala feet and each step bringing life into our nature world.
I especially focused on Australian seeds and seed pods which represent the foundation of evolution.
I always love learning and improving as a person. And creating art pieces is my way of sharing a story and what I’ve learned with others.
One person might not be able to save our world, but if we all work together, share and have some positive influence on each other, we can help save our planet.
